Palaiokastro & Crete

Explore the island of Crete

Palaiokastro

Palaiokastro is a seaside settlement located 14km west of the city of Heraklion. Its small beach, called Chelidoni, combines pebbles on the right side with sand on the left and remains unaffected by any northern winds in the area. The sea is calm without any waves, almost all year round.

Palaiokastro

The beach is located right next to the old Venetian Castle ‘Palaiokastro’ meaning ‘Old Castle’. Near the beach you can find a restaurant offering traditional Cretan cuisine, a café for refreshments and snacks as well as a super market.

ABOUT CRETE

Crete is the largest of the Greek islands. The terrain is mountainous and its character is defined by a high mountain range crossing from west to east.

Numerous beautiful beaches in every corner and a number of gorges and lakes make the island a unique vacation destination.
